This time we took Trail #3, which can be accessed on the west side of Marine Drive where it intersects with Chancellor Boulevard. This trail proved much better. It wasn't quite as steep as #4 and it seems to be better maintained. In addition, while #4 zig-zags down the face of the cliff, #3 traces the path of a huge gully on the slope.
